Visa routes

Moving someone within your group

Groups with an Italian subsidiary can transfer managers and specialists under a dedicated route. Groups without one cannot: the person needs an Italian employer, and that is where an Employer of Record fits.

You have an Italian entity

The transfer route for managers, specialists and trainees within a group may apply. Conditions, duration and quota treatment [to confirm on D.Lgs. 286/1998 art. 27-quinquies].

You have no Italian entity

There is no Italian group company to receive the transfer. We hire the person in Italy as Employer of Record, usually under the Blue Card, and your company keeps directing the work.

Questions to settle first

  • Is the move temporary, with a return planned, or permanent?
  • Will the person stay on your home payroll, or move fully to Italian payroll? Working in Italy for long periods changes where tax and contributions are due.
  • Does the person meet Blue Card conditions (degree or experience, salary, contract of at least six months)?
  • Will family come at the same time?

For a permanent move without an Italian entity, an Italian employment contract through our EOR service is usually the cleaner option: one Italian employer, Italian payroll, and a permit that does not depend on a group structure you do not have.
